About

Club History:
The Gene Autry Roping Club was formed in 1966, when Jay and Paula Thomas moved to the area and needed a place for their horse back activities. They called people listed in the phone book and invited those that were interested to their home for an organizational meeting.

The members leased land on Main Street in Gene Autry, Oklahoma and built their first arena. A few years later, the second arena was built at Clyde Walker’s place. In 1973, the arena was moved from Clyde’s place to it’s current location on Gene Autry Road. What at one time was the gymnasium for the Lincoln School now houses the meeting room and equipment for the Club.
